We are so grateful to share Juniper Tree’s very first album, made possible by countless showings of love and care by the beautiful people who fill our lives.
Juniper Tree is comprised of eleven of our earlier songs written between the years 2017 (the very first ones like Moon; Miles High, Miles Wide; and Blue Ridge Lullaby) and 2020 (our pandemic song, Dog On My Bed and our moving-away-from-the-Valley song, Last Trip Down).
The songs were all recorded, mixed, and mastered by Taylor Bess Music at his room at In Your Ear Studios in Richmond, Virginia. Taylor, unsurprisingly to those who know him and his deep well of talent, also arranged and performed and produced soooo much of what you will hear on the album.
Our incredibly dear friend Brandon O’Neill came into the studio to track drums (phenomenal) and guitars (phenomenal). His presence and musicianship ushered some of our favorite songs on the record (Northern Lights, Eeriest Dimension, Unrequited, and Last Trip Down) to places we couldn’t have imagined.
It is thanks to you and your generous support, encouragement, and presence that we set out to record these songs at all. And I believe that the act of your listening and receiving has shaped the sound and character of these songs in their evolution from hums-in-my-head-walking-to-work… to duo arrangements at shows… to the fully built album recordings that we are sharing today.
It’s an honor to have the opportunity to make art and share it. Thank you for listening to our music and in doing so inviting us into moments of your beautiful life. Time to play the album live (tonight 12/1 and tomorrow 12/2!) and get to work recording the next batch of tunes. Hope we get to see you out there somewhere soon!

On March 7th 2024, we are heading up to Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn, New York to record a handful of unique direct-to-vinyl singles. Last Trip Down
I picked up ivy to propagate— anything living to bring with me going away. I’ve seen the sky so many ways here, lucky to have spent this many days here, and I’ll never wonder whether I savored it enough. This crisp air’s moved through me for a third of my life— my anatomy made softer, spirituality darker, in the image of a mountain holler. The making patient, slow going as ancient peaks wearing closer to the ground— I will be closer, and closer still until my last trip down.
