‘Juniper Tree’ releases 12/1 everywhere music is streamed
Our self-titled full-length debut album (mouthful, wow)—Juniper Tree—will be released on December 1st of this year! I almost can’t believe my own words. This project has been so many years in the making, and many of you reading this have been incredibly patient (and encouraging, and coaxing, and generous) along the way and for that we owe you a miles-wide gratitude.
While there have been a few practical slowdowns to the making of this album, one of the more profound roadblocks for me (Valerie) was an emotional one: the fear of not doing it right—maybe differently stated as a resistance of the present moment.
In learning/choosing to put one foot in front of the other and take the steps that were right in front of us, we unlocked a beautiful, incredibly fun process that over the past calendar year has resulted in an 11-song album that we are very proud of. I am so glad this was the year we made this album and wouldn’t have it any other way.
We can’t wait for you to hear this collection of music. We’ll have more to say about it as the release gets a little closer, but for now, just know we are so thankful to you for being here in our corner.

Album Release Shows
Friday, December 1 — Harrisonburg, VA @ Sage Bird Ciderworks — 8:30 PM
We are celebrating Juniper Tree release day in a very special place: none other than the Sage Bird taproom, nestled in the heart of the city where these songs came to be.
Kicking off the night will be one of our very very favorite bands in the entire world, Spectator Bird. Then, Juniper Tree plays as a 4-piece band for the first time ever! We will play the entirety of the new album. World-class cider will be flowing all night and Outskirts hot dog truck will be serving delicious eats!
Music will begin at 8:30 following the First Fridays art reception that Sage Bird is hosting earlier on. There is a suggested $5 donation to the bands. This is bound to be a special evening and we would love to see you there!
Saturday, December 2 — Richmond, VA @ In Your Ear Studios Studio A — 7:00 PM Doors // 8:00 PM Music
We are thrilled to host our Richmond release show in the very building where the album was recorded! Come early to visit Taylor’s recording space and enjoy light refreshments. Our dear friend Colleen Christman will kick off the evening with a special Margox trio set, and Juniper Tree will follow with our full band. This show is going to be super special because we’ll have access to many of the actual instruments that made it onto the album, including the beautiful grand piano.
Space is very limited for this intimate studio live room show. If you plan to come out we highly recommend reserving your ticket in advance! Tickets are $15.

BEFORE YOU GO,
A POEM FOR THE ROAD:
It’s All Water
The tone shifts in the terrible clouds tumbling like the ocean is— it’s all water. That rainstorm knocked me over into mud, spears driving, water waking up the ghosts. And everything was open and shut open and shut open and shut— screen door in the country house abandoned, I am alone with spirits seething (is it me or the spirits?) anger in the air. Shut. Open and shut. Racecars in my esophagus will not stay put. Drafty, dusty, deeply lonely. A little bit manic. Mostly sopping, slightly shuddering, misty and wondering, uncorked—whispering how could I be so thirsty if it’s all water?
