RVA show 7/24; new song out!
Hello, friends. ✨ It’s been a looooooooooooong time since our last newsletter, and I hope that life—all heaviness and hardship considered—has been kind and beautiful and fulfilling for you in that stretch of time.
We’re back to update you about a new song we released last Friday, and let you know of a few shows we’ll be playing in the near future. (One show is very near…tonight!)
First: the song! It’s called Dragonfly — this is a song we’ve been playing out at shows for several years now, and we are both so glad it’s flying free 🙂
Dragonfly came to me in a moment on my parents’ back porch, looking out towards the swamp, when a dragonfly landed on my knee while I was snackin’ on a peanut butter sandwich. The way it landed with no hesitation struck a resonant chord in the part of me that just wants to know—please, dear Universe—exactly what I want. The way it rested on my kneecap, in the sunshine, as if it would rather be no other place. And then it launched away, as suddenly as it had come, with no need for a running start, winging straight for the back of the swamp with such determination I felt my own spirit lift.
The sheer amount of options whirling around in the air, and the heartbreak weighing that same air down, often cause me to freeze in the face of not knowing what to do.
It feels truly sacred to me to have a sense of direction and the energy to pursue it. This song helps me call on that sense, and I hope you find something in it that helps you, too.
